From the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara Mission Statement”
Established in 1876, the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara is a free religious community, dedicated to the search for truth and the love of humankind.
We believe in knowledge, for there is no help in ignorance; in reason, for without it we surrender to the blind forces of falsehood and prejudice; in compassion, for revenge and hatred destroy the spirit; in love, for it is life’s most creative power; and in community, for we cannot realize our potential if we live alone. Although we have no creed or dogma, we support one another in the search for truth, knowing that there is no end to its revelation. We seek fulfillment of our highest aspirations and our deepest longings in this beloved community where no one is a stranger.”
