First Church of Christ, Scientist, Santa Barbara, was organized under the laws of the state with 16 charter members. An English lady, Miss Lord, gave the church a gift of $5,000 for the establishment and maintenance of a Reading Room.

All Saints by the Sea Episcopal Church. The congregation of All Saints was founded in 1896 and the church was constructed in 1900.

In the 1920s, Our Lady of Sorrows expanded; parishioners erected a simple frame structure which became known as St. Aloysius Hall. It was disassembled and reassembled on Nopal St. as the new Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1926 (see below). 1920s  
  1925 MAJOR EARTHQUAKE destroys many buildings in Santa Barbara, including the then-standing Our Lady of Sorrows. The Old Mission was severely damaged.
